The Works is proud to support the Bellambi Neighbourhood Centre (BNC) in its invaluable community initiatives. This year we have been delighted to support their weekly Breakfast Club as well as their recent NAIDOC Week event celebrating the culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander People in the Illawarra. We are also excited to support and be part of their upcoming Children's Week event in October. For over 40 years, BNC has served as a central hub for the community, providing a welcoming space for people to meet, share, play, learn, and grow.
The Disabled Surfers Association is a fully volunteer-based organisation dedicated to giving individuals with any disability the chance to experience the joy of surfing. This year, the staff at The Works are excited to pop on their rash vests and volunteer, taking some incredible people out for a surf. Our support for the Disabled Surfers Association is focused on providing new rash vests, a surfboard, and other essential equipment, ensuring that this wonderful initiative can continue offering amazing experiences for people of all abilities for years to come.
As part of our support for the Woonona Board Riders, the team at The Works sponsored their inaugural, Ocean Queen Classic Event, the first female only surfing competition in the Illawarra. The event was a resounding success, bringing together local women to celebrate their talent, passion, and the vibrant surf culture here in the Illawarra.
The Works is proud to support Corrimal SLSC and its Nippers program for the 2024/2025 season. Established in 1911, Corrimal SLSC has been a vital part of the local community for over a century. The Nippers program is dedicated to teaching children essential beach safety skills, fostering resilience in the water, and instilling vital life skills. As a cherished part of the beach culture in Corrimal, the program ensures that young participants not only learn how to stay safe but also develop a deep respect and love for the ocean. By backing this important initiative, The Works is helping to nurture the next generation of confident and skilled lifesavers in our community.
Earlier this year, staff from The Works proudly attended and supported the International Women's Day Illawarra Event at the WIN Entertainment Centre. They were deeply inspired by the powerful story and words of keynote speaker Dr. Gill Hicks AM MBE, a survivor of the 2005 London bombings. It was a privilege to come together to honour the achievements of women, both near and far, and to celebrate the incredible women we have on our team here at The Works.
Corrimal Netball Club was established in 1972 and this year The Works are sponsoring the Premier League Team called Mirada who are playing their first premier league season. Four of the players are NSW representatives and the team is coached by Tanya Swaby who was a Junior herself.
